BEST EMS TEXAS

BEST EMS is comprised of over 40 high-performing Fire/EMS and first responder organizations. These departments respond to over 100k calls per year, including over 800 cardiac arrests. After attending the Resuscitation Academy in 2019, several key members of BEST EMS and agencies within the system returned home and embarked on an aggressive transformation of their system, including working through logistics of rapid LUCAS deployment, concentration on dispatch processes, marketing of cardiac arrest saves and police/citizen CPR/AED programs. Over the next several years, the system celebrated several major accomplishments and saved many more lives.

Under the direction of Dr. Elizabeth Fagan and Dr. Justin Northeim, the BEST EMS system has excelled in the treatment of cardiac arrest patients over the past few years. This has included regional participation in the CARES registry, adding RQI to several dispatch entities, the development of the regions’ Pre-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Best-Practices, improving CPR feedback to crews, and furthering education in HP-CPR. Their region has the most participating agencies in CARES in the state of Texas and have received a regional award from the AHA. Their overall survivability and Utstein percentage has improved significantly since 2019.

BEST EMS is now spreading the RA’s message throughout Texas. They are hosted several Texas RA’s. The Seattle RA is very grateful to BEST EMS for their steadfast determination to saving lives in Texas and beyond.
